Sovereign Wealth Fund Investments


Sovereign wealth fund (SWF) are investment funds owned by states to have returns from their reserves build thanks to foreign exchanges or pension investments. Usually, Sovereign wealth funds are characterized by long term return and the aim is to diversify incomes of the country to face changing economic scenario.

The first Sovereign wealth funds was the Kuwait Investment Authority, born in 1953 to manage oil revenues of Kuwait. The term sovereign wealth fund comes from an article by Andrew Rozanov entitled "Who holds the wealth of nations?", published  on Central Banking Journal in 2005 .
